Dr. Tom Traves

Dr. Tom Traves is President Emeritus of Dalhousie University in Halifax, Chair Nova Scotia. He is also a professor of Faculty of Management of Dalhousie University. Tom was the Dean of Arts of York University in Toronto, Ontario from 1981 to 1983. He was Vice President, Academic position at University of New Brunswick from 1991-1995. In 1995, he assumed the President position of Dalhousie University and continued in that role until he retired in 2013. Since Tom becoming President of Dalhousie University, enrollments at Dalhousie have grown by over 40% and external research grant and contract income have increased by over 300%. Dr. Traves spearheaded the merger of Technical University of Nova Scotia with Dalhousie in 1997 and the meager of Nova Scotia Agricultural College with Dalhousie in 2012. Tom also was instrumental in setting up Dalhousie Medical School Campus at University of New Brunswick. Tom was a past Chair of Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (“AUCC”), now re-named as “Universities Canada”. Tom graduated from University of Manitoba with a Bachelor of Arts degree, aa Master of Arts degree and a PhD degree. Tom also has Honorary Doctoral degrees from Umea University in Swede

Honorable Peter Milliken

Peter is a Canadian lawyer. He was the past MP for Kingston and Honorary Chair Speaker of the Canadian House of Commons from 2001 to 2010, the Longest Serving Speaker in Canadian history. After Peter retired from the Canadian Federal Government, he returned his legal practice as Special Advisor at Peter graduated from Queen’s University in Kingston with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He also has a Master of Arts degree from Oxford University in UK, and a Bachelor of

Laws degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Peter received Honorary Doctoral degrees from Queen’s University, Royal Military College, McGill University, University of Victoria, The Law Society of Upper Canada and State University of New York.

Dr. Tom Musial

Tom is the President of Paideia International Education (“PIE”) in Halifax, Vice Chair Nova Scotia. PIE is a private consulting company specialized in the design, planning and management of international education and training projects, specially university pathway programs, special purpose English programs, ESL/EFL teacher training, and setting standards for language school accreditation. Dr. Musial was the founder and owner of English Canada World Organization Incorporated (EC) (2003-2014) and International Language Institute (“ILI”) in Halifax, Nova

Scotia (1983-2014). Tom was Associate Director, The Collegiate Seminar (Great Books) program of University of Notre Dame in Indiana, USA (1966-1973). He was Dean of Academic Affairs of College of William and Mary in Virginia, USA (1973-1977). He moved to Canada and was the Dean of Faculty of Arts of Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia from 1977 to 1983. He was appointed Director of Executive MBA Program and Professor of Marketing (Business Communication at Saint Mary’s University in 1994. He left Saint Mary’s University in 1996 to focus his Energy on his Language School, ILI and consultancy work. Tom was the Co-president of Canada Language Council (now known as “Languages Canada”) (2006-2008). Tom holds a BA from University of Notre Dame, a MA from University of Wisconsin (Madison) and a PhD in English from University of Notre Dame. He also holds a RSA (TEFL) Certificate from International House, London.
